Interviews and appointments
Technical College offers students psychology services free of charge. Students can make appointments with Benedikt Bragi Sigurðsson, the school psychologist. Appointments are made in INNA with a referral from student counsellors, teachers or other members of staff. Appointments can also be made by direct email to Benedikt: [email protected]
When making appointments in INNA, select the option “Make an appointment” on the bottom right of the page. A drop-down list opens where the psychologist’s name is selected. Then a list of available interview times opens and a time and place for the interview is selected. Normally students come alone for their interview, but they can also bring along a friend, a parent or other family member. Interviews for parents/guardians, without the student present are also available.
The school psychologist’s office is in room 218 on the second floor on Skólavörðuholt, and he is also available for interviews in the school’s other buildings. Please make sure to select the preferred location when booking the appointment.
The reason for the interview does not have to be directly connected to school or a student’s studies. Students are welcome to make an appointment to discuss emotional difficulties like anxiety or depression, social isolation, communication difficulties, family matters, study technique, organisation, suspicion of ADHD or other disorders. An interview with the school psychologist can be the first step regarding most problems.
Students under 18
Students that are 16 and 17 years old can use the psychology services without needing to involve their parents or guardians if they so choose.
All interviews with the school psychologist are confidential and bound by the ethical guidelines of the Icelandic Psychological Association of which Benedikt is a member.
