Letter to students regarding Covid-19

Dear students and parental guardians

Now the beginning of fall semester is drawing closer. As you know we are currently living with restrictions due to COVID-19 (2 meter rule and maximum 100 people in one space). We are thus working on a rather complex task to plan the school term, which will include a combination of classes in school buildings and online. Yesterday and today the Chief Epidemiologist of Iceland discussed the possibility of a 1 meter rule (instead of 2) in schools. If that comes to be, it will simplify our planning of classes considerably and allow for more students and teachers to be in our buildings at any time, thus allowing more in-house teaching.

In light of the current circumstances you will not be able to see your timetables until next week. I will send you more information about that towards the end of the week.

The opening ceremonies for new students, which were to take place on the 19th of August, will also change. We will send information on that to new students in a few days time.

I hope you enjoyed the summer and are looking forward to starting school. We most certainly are looking forward to welcoming you. We are optimistic about the fall semester but we are also ready to respond to any situation that may arise. The safety and well-being of our students and staff members is our priority.

Best regards, Hildur principal
